Baptism in the Holy Spirit

“I baptize you with the water for repentance. But after me will come One who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

– Matthew 3:11

Baptism is an act of obedience. It’s an outward display and celebration of your inward decision to trust God with your life. It represents the fact that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave so that each and every one of us can have eternal life.

It symbolizes 3 main things:

  • Your old self dies away in Christ. – Romans 6:11
  • Your new self rises as Christ did to become a new spiritual creature. -Colossians 2:12
  • You live a new life, a part of the body of Christ, waiting for the coming of the Lord. – Romans 6:1-7

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift to you from the Father. We should receive and partake of every gift God has given us. We do not have to be afraid of any gift that God wants to give us.
